From Gordon Sutherland Montreal,Quebec,Canada.

I would like to hear from anyone who has genealogical information on the Sutherlands
(especially those called "King" or "Righ (Ri)"), as well as, the Dempsters, MacKays, and MacDonalds, in the Parish of Clyne. I would also like to hear from anyone who has connections with these families!

I am also interested in the early history of the Brora Rangers, from the formation of the
team in 1879. I am especially interested in the names of players. I have a clipping from
the Northern Times which says that my grandfather Andrew Sutherland (King) was
with the team when it was formed in 1879. I'm not sure if this is a fact.

I am researching the family of John McKay. He is said to have come from Brora, Parish Clyne, Sutherland to work for Hudson's Bay Company in 1790. He was probably born around 1750 - 1770 and he and his son, John Richards McKay, were well-known in the fur trade. A statement about his
granddaughter, Mary McKay (b. 1852, Red River Settlement, Manitoba, Canada) was that although she was mixed blood/metis, she was descended from the Lord Reay.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who might have connections with this family, or information about the connection of HBC with this area.

My Great Grandfather was William Ross, a baker from Brora. My Granddad was Roderick Ross (born c.1910's), he had a brother called Mackenzie who emigrated to Canada years ago.
I'd love to find out more than this!!
